Secretary of the Navy

First meeting with the Secretary of the Navy.
April 13, 2010
Naval Base Kitsap, WA

Psyching up for my new adventure, I decided to take in the postive message that the Honorable Ray Mabus brought to the troops, the base and the military community today. He explained the top three increases in O'Bama's budget plan: Veterans Administration, Homeland Security, and Department of Defense. Go big three! He also discussed a recent undertaking that the US Dept. of Agriculture and the Dept. of the Navy will collaberate on to reduce energy consumption derived from fossil fuels, and to increase energy production from renewable energy sources. Building my confidence in the mission ahead.

After question and answer session, he offered to do a meet and greet.
And as you all know I never pass on a "meet and greet".

READY, SET, GO!
Early mornings, convoy awaits.

Yeah, Too short to be a gunner.

Rainy day, testing of equipment!

Long days of waiting, but in
the sun who can not smile? Carl.

Tighten it up, here we go again Kathryn!
Students came from all parts of the country, with many different missions to complete; and a plethera of talent. Here we are listening and planning our next mission and convoy into an Afghanistan marketplace. All I can think of is how I will - hopefully - never be put in this situation. Crossing fingers of course. Afterall, it is shopping we are talking about. Isn't it? Well as principle on this task, I'd better listen up.
